Cultural Care’s new app helps you secure au pair childcare from start to finish with ease. Below, we break down how to become a host family—all from the palm of your hand. 

Step 1: Download the app

First things first: head to your phone’s app store and download the Cultural Care app. It’s free to use! 

Step 2: Create your profile 

If you’re new to the Cultural Care program, you’ll create an account and family profile so you can share details about your family members, interests, schedule, home, community and more. If you already have an account, use your existing username and password to log in and start exploring exciting new features you’ll find useful throughout your time on our program (see Step 8). 

Step 3: Discover amazing au pairs 

Once you’ve created your profile, you can browse thousands of au pair profiles from around the world! Use filters to narrow down candidates who meet your family’s needs and preferences. 

Step 4: Start chatting 

Once you find an au pair you like, you can start a conversation with them right in our app— and they can respond through the app, too! You can also use the app for phone and video calls to get to know each other better. 

Step 5: Find your match 

When you find an au pair who's a great fit in terms of both childcare experience and personality—and they feel the same—either of you can request to match. Once your match is confirmed, you’ll want to stay in touch as they get ready to travel to the U.S. and you prepare your family and home for their arrival. 

Step 6: Prepare for your au pair’s arrival 

With its support articles and how-to videos, the Cultural Care app is loaded with advice on getting ready for your au pair’s arrival. From making their bedroom feel like home to planning a fun welcome, you’ll take advantage of tips from seasoned host families. 

Step 7: Coordinate your au pair’s arrival to the USA! 

Once you and your future au pair decide on a start date, they can find and book flights to the U.S. through our app, and you can use it to keep track of their itinerary. 

Step 8: Get support from start to finish 

Use our app throughout your time as a host family to discover and sign up for both online and in-person events, access support articles and videos, get answers to FAQs with the help of our virtual assistant or start a chat with a live agent.
