Getting started with Cultural Care Au Pair has never been easier! Review our timeline below for a step-by-step introduction to becoming a host family.
Eight to ten weeks before desired arrival date:
If you require more immediate childcare, please call us at 800-333-6056 and we will try to accommodate your needs.
- Determine that you meet the criteria for becoming a host family.
- Complete your pre-application which will be used to match you with your au pair and will be sent to her/him upon making your final decision. You can apply online today.
- Schedule a personal interview. Your local childcare coordinator will schedule an in-home interview to discuss your childcare needs and expectations.
- Choose the right au pair:
- Review au pair applications. You will review suitable candidates selected by your Program Director with your family’s criteria in mind.
- Interview your au pair. Cultural Care Au Pair can help facilitate your family’s phone call to your prospective au pair through our Overseas Connection Services.
Six weeks before desired arrival date:
- Select your future au pair. The decision is yours, but the guidance of your local childcare coordinator and Program Director will assist you in this process.
- Enroll your au pair in an optional Specialty Preparation Class for additional training on a topic of your choice.
One to five weeks before your au pair’s arrival:
- Get ready. Cultural Care Au Pair provides support and resources for getting your family and home ready for your au pair’s arrival with our Host Family Handbook and Household Handbook.
- Your au pair prepares. Your future au pair obtains her J-1 visa and receives her flight tickets from Cultural Care Au Pair.
One week before arrival:
- Au Pair Training School. Your au pair spends four days at our exclusive training school in New York.
Your au pair arrives!
- Support doesn’t end here: Your local childcare coordinator will conduct an orientation for your family and host monthly meetings for your au pair. Your Program Director is always a phone call away.
