Lina Camilleri, Cultural Care Au Pair Training School Teacher
Lina grew up in Malta and earned her teaching degree before moving to the U.S. with her husband. She taught middle school and high school in the U.S. for many years before becoming a teacher at the Cultural Care Au Pair Training School in August of 2002. She has two grown children.
“My job as a teacher enables me to help au pairs see the gift they can be to host families in this country. My goal is to make them aware of the tremendous impact they will have on their host children. As a role model, they have the opportunity to shape their lives in a positive way.”
Why did you choose to be a teacher with Cultural Care Au Pair?
I love working with students from all backgrounds, and I love to teach. I felt I could empathize with the au pairs, since I also left my homeland when I was their age. I also studied psychology and have experience with children, which I felt would help me teach the curriculum.
Most memorable experience at the Au Pair Training School:
It is hard to describe just one. Each week I find myself saying I will never forget this class and then I am amazed again by the new group of au pairs that walk through the doors. Mostly, I remember the courage my students have to make their dream to be an au pair come true.
